The Atlantic Academy Rhineland-Palatinate was opened in Kaiserslautern on February 22nd, 1996 by Minister-President of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate Kurt Beck. The Academy’s mission is to extend the relationship between US citizens and citizens of Rhineland-Palatinate, which has been shaped by the military presence in the region, through cultural, economical, and interpersonal exchange. Since October 16th, 1996, the Atlantic Academy is organized as a voluntary non-profit association. The Academy has been an independent institution since January 1st, 1997. The chairman of the Academy is the Minister of the Interior of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate Karl Peter Bruch. The director of the Academy is Dr. habil. Werner Kremp.
The Atlantic Academy in Rhineland-Palatinate has gained wide respect through its ambitious conference and seminar programs as well as its publication series “Atlantic Texts.” The subject-specific conferences, seminars, workshops, and lectures for different target groups are realized in cooperation with regional and national partners.
